Snow removal provides the Highway Department with one of its greatest challenges. Their goal is to provide safe and expedient snow removal. The Town's road system is broken up into 8 snow routes, each route is assigned a separate snow removal crew. Each route takes approximately 4 hours to complete. This is a difficult and tedious job, please be patient with our crews.
Parking on Town or County Highway between November 1 and April 1 is restricted. Parking on an odd/even side of street basis is done as follows: Beginning at 7:00 am on odd calendar days, parking shall be allowed only on the side of the street with odd numbered houses to 7:00 am on the following day, such that on even calendar days, parking shall be allowed only on the side of the street with even numbered houses from 7:00 am on even calendar days to 7:00 am the following day. The west side of streets running north to south and the south side of streets running east to west are hereby designated the odd side of those streets. The east side of the streets running north and south and the north side of streets running east to west are hereby designated the even side of those streets. When any vehicle is parked on any road in violation of Paragraph 1 of this local law, said vehicle is subject to removal by towing. All towing and storage fees and expenses shall be the responsibility of the owner of the towed vehicle. The Highway Superintendent and the Code Enforcement Officer and their designees are hereby authorized to identify vehicles in violation of this Local Law and to engage the services of the reputable towing agency for towing and storage of said vehicles.
If you believe your mailbox has been damaged due to snow removal please contact the Highway Department. All mailboxes should be installed a minimum of 42 inches from the ground.
Did you know that throwing snow from sidewalks or driveways onto the road is against the law? NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law section 1219 (a) states: No person shall throw or deposit upon any highway any glass bottle, glass, nails, tacks, wire, cans, snow or any other substance likely to injure any person, animal, or vehicle upon such highway.
